This is the second studio album for rapper Lupe Fiasco, a very successful release with 198,470 sales in its second week.
I'll be honest, i never liked Lupe Fiasco, lyrically he's brilliant but his songs just don't sound like solid Hip Hop tracks, his voice is pretty annoying and usually his hooks are terrible.
What i expected was an album full of pop hooks and slow singing, and that is exactly what i got, but after a first disappointing listen i started paying attention to the lyrics and accepted Lupe's incredible lyrical skills over the rest.
The production on the album is mostly very good, piano play and strings are very used trough the album so i got nothing to complain, no candy beat can appear from those instruments.
My favorite tracks are "Hip-Hop Saved My Life", "Streets On Fire", "Little Weapon" and "Intruder Alert", all of them contain corny hooks and excessive harmony but this makes them very enjoyable and relaxing as the addictive single "Superstar".
I'm glad that a talented rapper like Lupe Fiasco gained mainstream attention, let's hope his next album won't disappoint.
